"Challenge 100" achieved at Reinbeck Elementary to collect 100 cans of food for the Reinbeck Food Bank. Students collected 235 cans of food.

Grundy County Board of Supervisors recently approved four new board members: Jane Hasek, T.J. Johnsrud, Barb Smith & Brenda Davis.

Sydney Karen Strohbehn, 61, died Jan. 30 at Ceder Valley Hospice House.

Quentin Scott Smith-Sopousek, 18 months, died Jan. 28 in Atlanta, Ga.

Beth Thompson & Dale Walbold received word that the school will receive a $65,000 grant to be used for several school projects.

Bill Dunkelberger has been named Farm Bureau Agent, the highest form of recognition.

Jerry Johnson has been appointed Director of Grundy Co. Commission for Grundy Co. Veterans Affairs.

Mr. & Mrs. David Isenhower are parents of a son born Jan. 30.

Mr. & Mrs. Jeff Charley are parents of a daughter born Jan. 7.

Bill Zempel of Reinbeck bagged a 16 point deer along the Iowa River.

Dale Clark, 77, Hudson, died Jan. 29 at Covenant Medical Center.

Reka Gronewald, 88, Wellsburg, died Jan. 26 at Allen Hospital.

Joan Downey. 70, Traer, died Jan. 24 at her home.

Helen Glasener, 88, Cedar Falls, died Jan. 31 at the Western Home.

Gordon Strayer, 85, Hudson, died Jan. 31 at Covenant Medical Center.

Donovan Staker, 63, Gladbrook, died Feb. 3.

Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Schulz, Gladbrook, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 26.

Carol Sedlmayr, Guttenberg, underwent major surgery at Covenant Medical Center.

Craig Schildroth and family have moved into the Leonard Schildroth home on the farm.

FEB. 16, 1978

Reinbeck Rams basketball team are Big Iowa Conference Champions with a record of 13 wins and one loss.

A car-tractor collision at the junction of D-35 & T-65 4 1/2 miles north of Reinbeck sent Daniel Strempke to Schoitz Hospital. Gaylord Billerbeck was charged with making an improper left turn with his tractor.

Funeral services for Mrs. H.K. Wilson, Grundy Center were held on Feb. 15.

Mr. & Mrs. Steve Robertson are parents of a daughter born Feb. 9.

Mr. & Mrs. Paul Hurley are parents of a son born Feb. 12.

Robert Strohbehn & Teresa Stephan announce their engagement.

Mr. & Mrs. W.J. Althof, Waterloo, are the new owners of Hep's Cafe effective Feb. 15.

Reinbeck School board purchased a 54 passenger carpenter bus body for $7,299.

Don Keith was elected to replace Harry Albert on the Board of Commissioners of the Grundy Co. Hospital.

Reinbeck Fire Dept. was called to extinguish a grass fire on the Rock Island tracks 2 1/2 miles west of Reinbeck.

Adolph Niedermann, 79, died Feb. 10 at his home.

George Willert, 79, died Feb. 3 at his home in Waterloo.

Herman Block, 82, died Feb. 11 at the Grundy Hospital.

Mr. & Mrs. Rick Swaney are parents of a son born Feb. 12.

Jana Dake & Lani Gill have been chosen to attend the 13th annual Tallcorn Band Conference at UNI on Feb. 17.
