The 38th annual Pioneer Craft Fair will take place on September 10, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the Grundy County Heritage Museum Grounds in Morrison.

Plan now for a day of good family fun. Admission and all activities are always free of charge. Food and vendor items will be available for purchase on the grounds. Many old favorites will be returning to the craft fair such as beekeeping & honey, crocheting, gold mining, butter churning, and fireplace stew. The kids will have all sorts of fun participating in activities like the treasure hunt in the hay, railroad rides, and a fun scavenger hunt, new for this year! You're in luck if you are an animal lover, Fleshner Farms will be here offering pony rides, and the Barn Stahl Petting Zoo, from Wellsburg, will be here with several of their animals to pet, feed, or just to sit back and observe. This year we welcome, the Dean of Juggling, who has been entertaining crowds in the Midwest for over 25 years. Dean will be performing at 1 p.m., you will not want to miss this!

Being raffled off this year is the Charles Freitag print, "Twin Power." Tickets will be available at the Pioneer Craft Fair event or can be purchased in advance by calling (319)345-2688, or by contacting a Historical Collections Board Member. Drawing will be held at 4 p.m. the day of the Craft Fair, winner need not be present to win.

You won't go away hungry if you visit the Farmers Market area, as well as, the popular lunch stand in the Heritage Center, which will be offering their selection of sandwiches, chips, drinks, and more. Visit the log cabin for the fireplace-cooked stew and the opportunity to sample fresh-churned butter.

Out at the wildlife area, north of town, will be the Buckskinner camp. Buses will load in Morrison to take visitors to and from the activities happening there, please note that no drive in access to the area is permitted. You can take a ride on the horse drawn trolley to the camp.

Exhibits in the Museum Building and Ag Hall/Heritage Center, as well as the Gift Shop, will be open throughout the day for your enjoyment.

The Pioneer Craft Fair event is co-sponsored by Historical Collections of Grundy County and the Grundy County Conservation Board. We appreciate all the local businesses who support the Pioneer Craft Fair each year.
