Rebels reach mercy rule on Mustangs

GILMAN - The Gladbrook-Reinbeck baseball team racked up 16 hits and handed host East Marshall a 15-5, five-inning setback in Wednesday's NICL West Division contest.

The Rebels (12-6, 6-4) scored their sixth-straight win by pouring on the offense, tallying three runs in the second and third innings, two more in the fourth and seventh in the fifth. East Marshall (5-18, 3-8) tried to prolong the game but came up one run short in the bottom of the fifth.

Jacob Svendsen got the loss on the mound for the Mustangs, allowing 10 runs - eight earned - on 11 hits and two walks, striking out two.

East Marshall had four hits, with Justin Ridout going 1-for-3 with an RBI single and a run scored. Colton Weese had an RBI single, Lansin Lacina singled and scored, and Eric Ommen added a hit.

Joe Smoldt got the win on the mound for G-R.
