As of July 1st new online databases are available to all public and academic libraries in Iowa. The new databases include a database of journal articles and reference sources, Chilton auto repair database, a research skills database, and a language and learning database. This takes the place of EbscoHost.

The new databases may be accessed off of our Reinbeck Library website at www.reinbeck.lib.ia.us. Just click on the Chilton or power search links. The Learning Express will also still be available. Watch for more news as we get established with the new system.

The library has purchased two award winning book sets for children and young adults: The Goldfinch Award set of 22 books and the Iowa Teen Award set of 15 books. This was made possible by memorial money for Wayne Fogt, LaVonne Frampton, Linda Ehrig, Deb Creswell, and Gloria Breakenridge from Judy Bicket, Gary and Ginny Poppen, and Audrey Derodeff.

We also purchased four books in memory of Gloria Breakenridge with memorial money from Ernie Mitchell: The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand, Stars Over Clear Lake by Loretta Ellsworth, Home for the Summer by Holly Chamberlin and Beach House for Rent by Mary Alice Monroe.

Stop in the library during July and see the Beatrix Potter display we have up. This is the collection of Joy Thiel, celebrating the birth month of the author of the Peter Rabbit books.

We have one more event before the summer reading ends for this year: "Build a Better World with Animals" by a representative from the Blank Park Zoo. This will take place at the Memorial Building on Tuesday, July 11 at 4:00. The program is free and open to the public.
